Oil Rigs

Some of you woke this week to see a new “tree” planted in north Springbank (see below). The location is on Range Rd 33, 1.5 km north of Tnp Rd 250

(Map location http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=51.10836,-114.35052&ll=51.10836,-114.35052&ie=UTF8&z=12&om=1 ).

This tree is owned by Bernum  Oil and will bring flaring and fracking to Springbank. Our understanding is that Bernum can put these trees just about wherever they have purchased the mineral rights. It is outside the purview of the County.

This is the first tree, but how many more will pop up throughout Springbank?

If you have concerns about fracking and flaring in our neighborhood , please add a comment below or email us at ourspringbank@gmail.com so we can gauge community opinion and,  if necessary help mount a coordinated response.

Hopefully, it will not come to this but take 15 seconds to see this web site on a landmark fracking lawsuit related to contamination of groundwater in Alberta: http://www.ernstversusencana.ca/

Here are a few pics. The first is a view from the deck of a resident who lives just over 1.5 km away (they were not contacted). The next two pics are closeups from Range Rd 33.
